What is a COI?

A COI is a mandatory inspection for vehicles within Australia used for commercial or industrial use. This includes heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass. You legally cannot drive or renew the registration of a COI vehicle if the certificate has expired. Doing so can result in fines and compliance breach.

Why Do I Need a COI?

A Certificate of Inspection (COI) is a mandatory safety check for heavy and commercial vehicles in Queensland. Without a valid COI, you cannot renew your registration or legally operate the vehicle on public roads. Vehicles such as heavy vehicles, licensed tow trucks, buses, taxis, limousines, and booked hire vehicles registered in Queensland may need to have a periodic or programmed inspection to check minimum vehicle safety standards.

When Do I Need a COI?

Registration transfer: moving a vehicle’s registration from interstate to Queensland
Annual renewal: trucks, tow trucks and motorhomes over 4,500 kg GVM, and trailers over 3,500 kg ATM, require a COI every 12 months
Commercial passenger vehicles: personalised transport vehicles require a COI every 12 months
Selling a COI vehicle: the transfer cannot be processed without a valid COI
Non-registered vehicles: vehicles that do not currently hold registration in any state
Pre-COI: a preventative mechanical check that assesses your vehicle against roadworthiness standards before the official inspection

What is the max size truck RSC diesels are Authorised to Inspect?

RSC Diesels is approved to inspect heavy vehicles from 4.5 to 16.5 tonnes GVM, along with non-registered vehicles.

Personalised transport services: Rideshare vehicles bus, Vans.
Heavy vehicles: Trucks, prime movers, heavy trailers, and mobile homes/motorhomes.
Public transport: Buses and community transport vehicles.

Had an issue with the 2021 E6 Daily  overheating early July, We were travelling in the area and they managed to squeeze me in within a week of me calling them. 1 hour later problem fixed. Turned out a fuse had blown. I never thought to ask which one, so a couple of weeks later, same issue. We are out bush near Mt Garrett but fortunately had phone reception. I rang and spoke to the Service Receptionist again. Within 20 minutes I had an email from her telling me which fuse and also a diagram to show which one. Highly recommend these guys, they are Iveco Service Agents. Best Service I've had from any Iveco service centre since I got the the truck. Special thanks to the lovely Service Reception lady!
