A mature, Qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic with substantial post trade experience is required for our busy fleet maintenance company in Cairns. The role will include but is not limited to the following; Fault finding, diagnosing and repairing problems as necessary and provide routine maintenance to client’s vehicles. Collaborate and provide guidance as needed, to our team of mechanics and apprentices. Full time hours with call out roster (on call allowance applies) and overtime hours when required are expected as part of this role. Potential for progression within the company. Skills and Experience Trade qualification as Heavy Diesel Mechanic. Minimum 3 years post trade experience. Experience in truck & bus repairs avantageous. Experience with European brands advantageous. Heavy rigid licence essential. Exceptional organisational skills, with strong emphasis on time management. Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and wholistic work ethics. Attractive salary package will be negotiated on skills and previous experience.
We are looking a candidate who fits our culture and will work well within our small team of technicians, apprentices, parts interpreters and overarching management within our Cairns based Fleet Service Workshop. We require this person to demonstrate excellent interpersonal management skills as well as practical logistics in working independently to oversee the running of day to day processes within the workshop as well as managing our team of technicians. You will build and maintain a skilled and procedure driven team. This person brings to the table extensive experience as a Diesel technician with some knowledge regarding Euro truck ranges coupled with electronical diagnosing skills being advantageous. Excellent general mechanical knowledge is mandatory. Whilst being ‘hands on” the managerial nature of this role does require proficiency in computer-based processes and reporting, as well as strategic decision making. Your Experience Qualified Diesel Technician with proven experience (minimum 5 years preferred) Experience with service work for heavy commercial vehicles and engines. (Euro brand trucks exposure advantageous.) Experience liaising, delegating and managing within a workshop team (minimum 2 years preferred) Your Value The key criteria for this role include: Ability to plan, implement and manage the flow of work throughout the workshop while also working alongside other tradesmen Ability to maintain and improve the company’s high service standards together with positive customer communications Ability to meet stringent monthly KPI’s Current Australian HR or relevant licence Excellent safety attitude and processes Medical including drug and alcohol testing is required as part of the recruitment process.
